Free classes for First Graders

DCPS First Grade Ice Skating Initiative

Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex is proud to announce the DCPS First Grade Ice Skating Initiative.

First Graders enrolled in a Duval County Public School are eligible for 8-weeks of free Learn to Skate or Learn to Play classes.
The partnership between Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex and Duval County Public Schools will offer ice skating lessons to all first graders free of charge. This nationally recognized Learn to Skate USA program teaches the basic skills essential to enjoy the sport of ice skating. These skills can be used for advanced figure skating, ice hockey, or recreational fun. Each eight-week session is sanctioned by US Figure Skating and USA Hockey.
All DCPS First Grade students are eligible for one class per week. These classes will be offered on Tuesdays at 6:05 pm and Saturdays at 10:40 am. A third hockey-focused Learn to Skate USA class will be offered on Saturdays at 8:00 am.
A $25.00 Annual Registration Fee is required to enroll each student in the USFSA Learn to Skate USA program. Each student may register for one eight week session at no cost. Skates will be provided. While enrolled in the classes, Public Sessions are discounted to only $6.00 so all students may practice the sport they will come to love.

The first session of the DCPS First Grade Ice Skating Initiative begins Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
